Outline at InfoComm 2010

Outline North America LLC has announced it is participating in InfoComm10 (Las Vegas Convention Center, NV USA) from June 9th to 11th 2010.

To the fore on stand C7897, visitors will be able to see the latest versions of the DVS 8 SP and DVS 10 SP enclosures, recently presented in Frankfurt.

These self-powered, compact and light-weight systems are ideal for multi-purpose applications, particularly for live events.

This latest release introduces a series of upgrades that put these units at the top of their class, not only in terms of sonic quality, but also as far as ergonomic lines and user-friendliness are concerned (all the models of the DVS range are also available in non-amplified versions, with on-board passive crossovers).

DVS 8 SP is equipped with a new eight-inch mid-woofer combined with a compression driver with a one-inch diaphragm and ensures a sound pressure level of 123 dB (peak @ 1 metre). DVS 10 SP is fitted with a ten-inch woofer combined with a compression driver with a 1.75-inch diaphragm and ensures a sound pressure level of 127.5 dB. In spite of their dimensions, both models guarantee surprising headroom with an extremely low distortion level.

Signal management is handled by a modern (24 bit) DSP. This provides four (selectable) presets, extremely useful if one wants to change the equalization curve – even during a show – by just pressing a button. Further details of the equalizer’s characteristics can be found on the Outline Web site.

Apart from the figures, it is important to stress which features have undergone improvement compared to the previous release.

As far as the electro-acoustic aspects are concerned, the cutting edge technology adopted by Outline in the molding sector has enabled the company to manufacture horns that are rigid and lighter, with obvious benefits in terms of distortion and lower weight.

One of the other innovations introduced regards the panel of the amplification module (located on the rear): this is formed by numerous small aluminium pyramids and, as well as giving the enclosure an original look, also ensures a high heat dissipation capacity and contributes to increasing reliability – which is already considerable, thanks to the top grade components used.

The shape of the cabinets in the new DVS series enables them to be used as stage monitors at two angles (25° or 45°). There are also new user-friendly handles, designed to ensure weight is perfectly balanced during transport, as well as flying points with M8 metric threads, to facilitate hanging work.

On the Outline stand (C7897), the Italian manufacturer’s products on show will also include its line arrays: the Butterfly, Mantas and Mini-COM.P.A.S.S., the last of which is self-powered and fitted with sensors and DSP for its variable directivity (from 60 to 150 degrees): it is the only compact VLA on the international market offering this feature.
